Dataset
Summary
16 members of a multi-physics ensemble generated using the WRF-ARW model 3.8.1 model are archived. The limited-area model is centered over the Horn of Africa (Lat -1.3:19.0 °N; Lon 15.8:57.2 °E), consisting of 749x1499 horizontal grid points and 57 vertical levels.
The boundary conditions were derived from 4 SEAS5 members (Control, members 1, 2, 3), initialized 01/03/2018.
Model set-up: RRTMG long-wave radiation scheme, NOAH-MP land-surface model, IGBP‐Modified MODIS land use, standard WRF soil map.
The changed parameterizations in the WRF ensemble are microphysics (Morrison, Thompson), short-wave radiation (RRTMG, CAM), planetary boundary layer (MYNN, YSU). Members with the "Std" label used all the first schemes in the brackets, whereas "Thom", "CAM" and "YSU" labels indicate the swap of the reference physics parameterization with the alternative. The number (e.g. '0' in Std0) refers to the SEAS5 member used to derive the boundary conditions for that model run.
The downscaling covers from 01/03/2018 to 01/09/2018. The study considered only June, July, and August for analysis, hence only these 3 months are stored.
Archived variables: T2, Cumulative Precipitation @1h intervals; horizontal Wind, Q on pressure levels @6h intervals.
Pressure levels: 1000,925,850,700,600,500,400,300,200,100 hPa
The file format is NetCDF4, aggregated in tar.gz archives.
