IPCC Second Assessment Report ECHAM4/OPYC data sets

Acronym
IPCC_SAR_ECHAM4/OPYC
Name
IPCC Second Assessment Report ECHAM4/OPYC data sets
Description
The project embraces the simulations with the coupled climate model ECHAM4/OPYC, relevant for the Second Assessment Report (SAR, http://www.ipcc.ch/ipccreports/assessments-reports.htm) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), published in 1995.
The IPCC has been established by WMO and UNEP to assess scientific, technical and socio-economic information, relevant for the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts and options for adoption and mitigation. More detailed description about the work of the IPCC will be found at its homepage ( http://www.ipcc.ch ) and ( www.grida.no/climate/ipcc ).
The IPCC has developed a range of scenarios, IS92a-f that of future greenhouse gas and aerosol precursor emissions based on assumptions concerning population and economic growth, land-use, technological changes, energy availability and fuel mix during the period 1990 to 2100 (http://www.ipcc.ch/pdf/climate-changes-1995/2nd-assessment-synthesis.pdf and http://www.grida.no/climate/ipcc/emission/076.htm#anc1)
Model experiments, also using different forcing scenarios, were calculated at other modeling centres. These data are available at the World Data Center for Climate, Hamburg.( wdc-climate.de project IPCC_DDC_SAR ). Projection of future trends for a great many model variables of ECHAM4/OPYC are provided through this project.
