Global implications of Arctic climate processes and feedbacks
Description
GLIMPSE addressed the question as to what global consequences occur due to natural changes in the Arctic climate system and as to whether the Arctic climate system is as sensitive to anthropogenic and external variations as climate models suggest.
Within GLIMPSE improved physical parameterisations for the Arctic climate system were tested and validated in regional climate models and afterwards implemented into coupled AOGCMs, including ECHO-G. GLIMPSE addressed the global influences of improved parameterisations via atmospheric and oceanic teleconnections and consequences for decadal scale climate variability.
The project GLIMPSE was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Klaus Dethloff from Alfred-Wegener-Institute for Polar and Marine Research at Potsdam, Germany.
