Production of seasonal to decadal hindcasts and climate change scenarios
The ENSEMBLES project (contract number GOCE-CT-2003-505539) is supported by the European Commission"s 6th Framework Programme as a 5 year Integrated Project from 2004-2009 under the Thematic Sub-Priority "Global Change and Ecosystems". The project aims to develop an ensemble prediction system for climate change based on the principal state-of-the-art, high resolution, global and regional Earth System models developed in Europe, validated against quality controlled, high resolution gridded datasets for Europe, to produce for the first time, an objective probabilistic estimate of uncertainty in future climate at the seasonal to decadal and longer timescales. ENSEMBLES homepage: http://www.ensembles-eu.org/ The first data stream (2006) consists of data of scenarios which mostly were calculated for the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) (http://www.ipcc.ch/about/about.htm). Stored are global GCM scenario data, monthly mean and daily mean values in netCDF-format for these emission scenarios: SRESA2, SRESA1B, SRESB1, 1PCTTO2x, 1PCTTO4X, 20C3M (http://www.grida.no/climate/ipcc/spmpdf/sres-e.pdf) provided by the following centres(-models): IPSL(_CM4), CNRM(-CM3), MPI(-ECHAM5),BCCR(-BCM2), UKMO(-HADCM3), UKMO(-HADGEM1), FUB(-EGMAM), DMI(-ECHAM5).
