ENSEMBLES STREAM2 EGMAM2 20C3M run3, daily values

Hübener, Heike; Körper, Janina

Experiment
Summary
These data represent daily values (daily mean, instantaneous daily output) of selected variables for ENSEMBLES (http://www.ensembles-eu.org). The list of output variables can be found in: http://ensembles.wdc-climate.de/output-variables.

The model was further developed since ENSEMBLES stream 1 by including a sulfate aerosole transport scheme (Feichter et al, 1997), varying ozone concentrations and land use changes.
The 20th century simulation (1860-2000) is initialized in year 760 of a preindustrial control run (1860 conditions) and forced with changes of greenhouse gas concentrations (CO2, CH4, N2O, CFC-11* and CFC-12; time histories of GHGs concentrations from ENSEMBLES project: http://www.cnrm.meteo.fr/ensembles/public/data). Additionally, sulphur emissions are used to run a sulfate transport scheme and land use changes are included; land use data from ENSEMBLES project: http://www.cnrm.meteo.fr/ensembles.

The datasets are available in netCDF format.
The dataset names are composed of
- centre/model acronym (FUBEMA2: Freie Universitaet Berlin / EGMAM (=ECHO-G with Middle Atmosphere and Messy))
- scenario acronym (20C3M)
- run number (1: run 1)
- time interval (MM:monthly mean, DM:daily mean, 6H:6 hourly, 12h:12hourly)
- variable acronym [with level value] (e.g. hur850: relative humidity, 850 hPa)
--> example: FUBEMA2_20C3M_1_MM_hur850

For this experiment 3 ensemble runs were carried out. NOTE: the forcings were not the same in all 3. Ensemble member 1 had both anthropogenic and natural forcings, members 2-3 had anthropogenic forcings only.

Technical data to this experiment:
The experiment used AGCM MA/ECHAM4 (T30L39) coupled to OGCM HOPE-G (T42 with equator refinement, L20), and was run on a NEC SX-6 (hurrikan.dkrz.de).
