In this data archive we provide computer code and sea-ice data derived from a model simulation with the Max Planck Institute Ocean Model (MPIOM) analysed in our article "Retrievals of Arctic sea-ice volume and its trend significantly affected by interannual snow variability" (Geophys. Res. Lett., 2018). The computer code in this archive comprises scripts for a simulated Arctic ice-thickness retrieval using different snow climatologies. The derived data deposited in this archive consists of different snow climatologies, auxiliary files for performing the simulated ice-thickness retrieval, and relevant model output of an ERA-Interim forced MPIOM simulation from 1980 to 2016. This model simulation was used to compute a snow-depth climatology which represents a crucial data product for the analyses described in our article.
