Dataset
Summary
In 1963 Mt. Agung, Indonesia, was unrest for several month. During this period
injected two eruptions SO_2 into the stratosphere. Recent volcanic emission data sets include only one large eruption phase instead of two smaller ones. The evolution of sulfur is non-linear. We performed two model experiments, one with a larger eruption and a second with two eruptions of the observed size. The evolution of the volcanic clouds is differs significantly between the two experiments. We conclude that there is no justification to use one eruption only and both climatic eruptions should be taken into account in future emission datasets.

Data:
Simulations with a single eruption have an uneven number in simulation name
Simulations with two eruptions have an even number in simulation name
Model ensemble data in agu027-37 and agu028-38
Filenames beginning with qbo000 contain control data without a volcanic eruption, which were used to calculate the temperature anomaly.
